GUANGZHOU - The Zhuhai checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) recorded over 144,000 inbound and outbound passengers yesterday, marking a new high since its opening in October 2018, official data showed today.
The number surpassed the previous highest single-day record of 130,000 set on the previous day, according to the HZMB border inspection station.The HZMB, the world's longest bridge-cum-tunnel sea crossing, yesterday also logged a record flow of over 18,000 inbound and outbound vehicles.
The 55-km HZMB links the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the city of Zhuhai, and the Macau SAR. Analysts say that it has brought tremendous economic opportunities and benefits to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA).
