A dead body was found floating in the city’s coastal waters off Estrada Nordeste da Taipa yesterday morning, according to a statement by the Judiciary Police (PJ).
PJ spokesman Ho Wai Lok said in the statement yesterday that the dead body was initially identified as a young local man reported missing after jumping off Sai Van Bridge last Wednesday.
The statement noted that the Judiciary Police were notified by the Macau Customs Service (SA) at 11:05 a.m. yesterday that it officers found a dead male body floating in the coastal waters, when they were on patrol duty near Estrada Nordeste da Taipa, adding that the corpse was later towed to the shore at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal in Zape.
Woman dead after ‘falling from height’
Meanwhile, a separate PJ statement yesterday said that a middle-aged woman found lying on the road outside a commercial building on Rua Cidade de Sintra in Nape at about 1 p.m. yesterday was certified dead after “falling from a height”.
According to the statement, items belonging to the local victim were found on the rooftop of the building at the scene, situated above the exact place where the victim was found.
The statement noted that a suicide note was found on her.
Upon examination of the body, the victim’s injuries were consistent with a fall from a height, the statement added.
The Judiciary Police were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) of the death at 1:10 p.m. yesterday.
According to both statements, upon the respective preliminary examinations of the two deceased, no criminal-induced injuries were found on their bodies, but the determination of the cause of each death was still pending the outcome of their respective forensic examination.
Each case has initially been classified as a dead body found, the statements noted.
