A Hong Kong man was caught red-handed sexually harassing a mother and daughter who fell asleep at a foot massage parlour in the city centre in the early morning of Tuesday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said at a regular press conference on Friday.
Wong identified the suspect as a 59-year-old man surnamed Chen, while the two victims from the mainland are in their fifties and twenties respectively.
According to Wong, the Public Security Police received a report about the sexual harassment case from the victims at about 7 a.m. on Tuesday. The victims told the police that while they were sleeping in the rest area of the foot massage parlour at the time, both were touched by Chen, adding that while they were sleeping, the mother felt her body being touched. She woke up and stopped Chen, who claimed to have felt unwell and apologised for his behaviour. Wong quoted the victims as saying that they called the police after Chen touched the daughter’s chest when the mother fell asleep again.
PSP officers who arrived at the scene scrutinised the parlour’s CCTV footage, thanks to which they were able to confirm that Chen had sexually harassed the two women, Wong said, adding that under questioning Chen admitted to committing the offences.
Chen has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing sexual harassment charges, according to Wong.
