A former Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong, has been named a deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO), the Human Resources Ministry in Beijing has announced this morning.
Nong is part of the delegation led by the director of the office, Xia Baolong, on a week-long inspection trip to the SAR.
According to photos released by the Hong Kong government, Nong was alongside Xia when he landed at the airport yesterday.
A native of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Nong, 56, previously served as mayor of Guigang.
He is a former assistant foreign minister.
