Melco Resorts & Entertainment, its non-governmental organisation (NGO) and community partners will continue to celebrate the Chinese New Year (CNY) of the Dragon (Year of the Loong) through volunteering activities until early this month, according to a statement from the integrated resort operator earlier this week.

The statement noted the series of 25 volunteering activities celebrating CNY with local seniors, children, youngsters and families began in late January. Around 370 Melco volunteer participations were expected, devoting over 420 hours to approximately 1,020 local community beneficiaries. The integrated resort operator also encouraged the volunteers to join the festive activities with their children, the statement said.

One celebration with the residents of the Pou Tai Integrated Service Centre for the Elderly was joined by Melco Chief Advisor Kent Wong (黃昇雄) and Raymond Lo (盧敬恆), senior vice president, property general manager of Altira Macau & Mocha Clubs; along with the chairman of the Pou Tai Social Service Building Management Committee, Master Shi Xinhui, and the director of the Pou Tai Integrated Service Centre for the Elderly, Hung Hoi Meng, according to the statement. The event featured sessions of festive singing and games.

Melco volunteers also brought festive greetings to the Macau Federation of Trade Unions’ (FAOM, Gung Luen in Cantonese) Ka Ao Nursery Home’s seniors, with volunteers greeted by the home’s Dean Ung Vai Ha and Deputy Dean Winnie Lau (劉詠詩), as well as FAOM Consultant Leong Iok Wa.

The statement added that the volunteers also visited the beneficiaries of the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau’s (UGAMM, Kai Fong in Cantonese) Cheng I Comprehensive Service Centre for the Elderly to support pre-CNY tidying of their living environments, along with delivering gifts such as blankets, the statement said.

Moreover, Cradle of Hope Association’s young beneficiaries were invited to Studio City Super Fun Zone together with Melco volunteers, while arts and crafts and food-making events to celebrate CNY were also held, the statement noted.
