Macau's 30 casinos generated gross gaming revenue (GGR) of 18.48 billion patacas (US$2.29 billion) last month, a year-on-year growth of 79.1 percent, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has announced today.
However, GGR was down 4.4 percent month on month.
Last month included the Chinese mainland's eight-day Spring Festival (Chinese Lunar New Year) "Golden Week" holiday. Mainlanders accounted for over two-thirds of Macau's visitor arrivals during the period.
In the first two months, GGR grew 72.9 percent to 37.82 billion patacas.
Macau's 30 government-concessioned casinos are owned by six rival operators: SJM (13), Sands (5), Galaxy (4), Melco (4), MGM (2), and Wynn (2).
Casinos, shopping, dining-out and World Heritage sightseeing are Macau's main tourist attractions.
Baccarat is Macau's most popular game of chance, generating about 85 percent of its casinos' GGR last year, according to DICJ data.
