A local man in his fifties was arrested for sexually harassing a female passerby in her thirties in Rua Central at about 5 p.m. last Monday, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said on Friday, adding that the suspect was identified through the police forces’ citywide CCTV camera system.
A PSP investigation showed that the suspect in his fifties sexually harassed the victim wearing shorts, first touching her deliberately with his shoulder and then touching her thighs with his hand, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said that the suspect even turned around and looked back at the victim after committing the crime, adding that feeling insulted, the victim, a non-resident worker (NRW), called the police.
The suspect surnamed Kong was summoned to a police station for questioning, where he admitted to committing the crime.
Kong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a sexual harassment charge, according to the spokesperson.
