The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has been informed by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service that a prepacked sausage product may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically pieces of rubber, according to an IAM statement on Friday.

The problematic product, namely “Johnsonville POLISH KIELBASA TURKEY Sausage”, was manufactured in the US under the brand of “Johnsonville”, with a vacuum pack size of 12 ounces and best-before dates of either May 17 or 18, 2024, the statement said, adding that the establishment number of the product is P-32009.

A statement by the USDA on Thursday said that the problem was discovered after the firm received complaints from consumers reporting they found pieces of rubber in the ready-to-eat turkey kielbasa products.

US authorities are recalling the products, the statement said, adding that the Municipal Affairs Bureau has ordered shops that have the products in question to stop selling them and urged consumers not to consume any they have purchased.

The bureau will continue to send its personnel to carry out inspections at retail outlets in order to prevent the product from entering the market, the statement said.
