A press conference for The International Series Macau hosted at Wynn Palace in Cotai yesterday was attended by four pro golfers who will be playing at the Asian Tour-sanctioned event, which is set to feature 20 top players from the LIV Golf League and the Asian Tour.
The International Series Macau is presented by Wynn.
The golfers at yesterday’s press conference were Sergio García, Ian Poulter, Andy Ogletree and Kho Taichi, while the event also saw the organisers give the Macau Special Olympics a donation of US$ 25,000 (201,400 patacas).
Spain’s García is the Fireballs GC captain and the 2017 Masters champion. He is a six-time winner in the region and has garnered 36 international trophies, according to a Wynn Resorts statement provided yesterday.
The statement added that English pro-golfer, Majesticks GC co-captain Poulter won the Hong Kong Open in 2010 and is a Ryder Cup legend from Team Europe.
US pro golfer Ogletree, the statement noted, is a 25-year-old Hyflyers GC star and is making his return to The International Series since joining the LIV Golf League in 2024 as Order of Merit Champion. He won in Qatar and England last year, and had also played in Macau last year.
Lastly, the statement said that 23-year-old Hongkonger Kho won the World City Champion in his hometown last year, and is among the aspiring young players competing in The International Series in search of ranking points.
Head of The International Series Rahul Singh, LIV Golf COO Lawrence Burian, and President, Vice Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited Linda Chen Chih-ling were also among the attendees.
The first round of the Macau-debut event, which has a prize fund of US$2 million, starts on Thursday and runs through Sunday at the Macau Golf and Country Club. A Golf Village will also be held on Wynn Palace’s South Lawn during the period that features a raft of complimentary activities.
