A local university student has been apprehended for stealing a pair of earphones he had found in the street, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Chi Weng said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect surnamed Lam is in his twenties.
According to Wong, a male resident reported to the police on January 12 that he had lost his earphones worth 2,000 patacas at a government building on Estrada de D. Maria II.
The officers identified Lam as the individual who had picked up the earphones with the help of CCTV footage. He was summoned to a police station on Friday.
Under questioning, Lam admitted to picking up the earphones out of greed.
Lam has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft-by-finding charge, Wong said.
