The Sports Bureau (ID) said in a statement yesterday that the ITTF [International Table Tennis Federation] Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2024 will take place at Galaxy Arena in Cotai from April 15 to 21, with the event set to gather 48 world class table tennis players.
The statement noted that the ITTF-sanctioned event will be presented by integrated resort operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG). Reigning World U19 champions are taking part in the competition “as a way to elevate young players to the global stage of the World Cup”, according to the statement.
The statement underlined that the sanctioning of the World Cup to be held in the city “demonstrates the trust and recognition of ITTF in Macau’s ability to host major international table tennis events”.
Next month’s event is organised by the bureau, GEG, and World Table Tennis Management Group Limited (WTMG) in conjunction with the Macau Table Tennis General Association.
