Melco Resorts & Entertainment said in a statement earlier this week that Leon Lai Ming (黎明) is set to return to the Studio City Event Centre to present Season 2 of the Melco Residency Concert Series entitled “Leon Lai Stage on 8 2024”, which will feature 10 shows from May 1.
Lai, 57, is one of the “Four Heavenly Kings” of Hong Kong pop music and is also an actor, film director and businessman, according to Wikipedia.
The statement said that the event will be exclusively presented by Melco Style, for which its members can make advanced bookings with a 20 percent discount on single tickets and a 25 percent discount on four tickets until March 20.
For the concert’s title and theme, the statement said that Lai was inspired by the Studio City landmark “Golden Reel” – the world’s highest figure-8 Ferris wheel gondola ride.
During the “first season” of the “Leon Stage on 8” series last year, the statement said that Lai performed his greatest hits in the brand-new stage production specifically designed for Studio City Event Centre, interacting with fans and showcasing his charisma.
On his return, Lai was quoted by the statement as saying: “I’m thrilled to collaborate with Melco and as part of the effort to bring a residency concert culture to Asia”, noting that he resonated with fans from across Asia with 14 enjoyable gigs last year.
Melco Senior Vice President and Studio City Property General Manager Kevin Benning was quoted by the statement as saying: “We are delighted to present the Melco Limited bespoke superstar concert series for all Melco Style members, tourists and Macau locals. The Melco Residency Concerts brings all guests a unique residency experience and at the same time promotes the cultural exchange of art and music”.
Tickets, which go on sale next Thursday, start from 688 patacas.
