A drunken driver fled the scene after crashing into 15 water-filled barriers in Avenida da Amizade in the wee hours of Saturday, according to a statement by the Public Security Police (PSP) on that day.
The car crash happened near the Oceanus casino in Zape, where PSP officers rushing to the scene saw that the car had slammed into the water-filled barriers separating opposing directions of traffic on the road, damaging 15 of the barriers. Two private cars travelling on the opposite side were hit by fragments of the barriers, Saturday’s statement said.
The Public Security Police identified the drunken driver as a local man in his thirties, who was found to have an alcohol concentration of 1.31 grams per litre of blood.
According to the statement, the suspect was arrested for drunk-driving and hit-and-run.
The statement did not reveal where and when the suspect was nabbed.
