Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lei Chan Hong announced yesterday the arrest of a Hong Kong woman on Thursday for stealing two bottles of skincare serum worth a total of about 7,900 patacas from a shop in a hotel.

During yesterday’s regular press conference at the PSP press room in Zape, Lei told reporters that the Public Security Police received a theft report from the shop on Thursday morning, which noted that the shop’s staff discovered the loss of two bottles of skincare serum after counting the stock, adding that the shop’s CCTV footage showed a woman taking two bottles of serum in the evening of last Tuesday without paying for them.

According to Lei, after identifying the thief through the hotel and the shop’s CCTV footage, PSP officers caught the suspect in her fifties, surnamed Tsui, at her guestroom of the same hotel where she had committed the theft.

The officers also recovered the stolen goods from Tsui’s guestroom, Lei added.

Tsui, who admitted to the crime, has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge.
