A man and a woman were arrested last Sunday in a case involving prostitution, stolen cash, a broken smartphone and illegal recording, the Public Security Police (PSP) announced yesterday.

According to PSP spokesman Lei Chan Hong, the man told the police that the woman had offered him sexual services while he was gambling in a local casino last Sunday. According to the man’s version, both then went to his hotel room where while he was having a shower he believed that she had stolen HK$6,000 in cash from his trouser pocket.

Lei said both are in his thirties.

However, the woman denied stealing the money, Lei said, adding that she called a female friend to the room to talk to the man, during which the latter then filmed both with his mobile phone. The man told police that one of the women then grabbed his phone and threw it on the floor, damaging it, after which he called the police.

Lei said while the man was suspected of illegal recording, one of the women was suspected of theft. The man and the woman who allegedly stole the money were taken to a PSP police station for further investigation.

However, Lei said that no cash was found on the suspected thief.
