Tickets for 34th Macao Arts Festival go on sale

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement on Friday that tickets for its upcoming 34th Macao Arts Festival (MAF)) are now available, with members of the public able to purchase them from Macau Ticketing Network outlets, online or by phone.

Themed “Wonderous Encounters”, the statement noted that the festival is slated to take place from May 3 to June 7 with 19 selected programmes, according to the statement. The programmes cover theatre, Chinese opera, dance, music and visual arts.

This year’s festival is set to start with “Grand Opening: Jungle Book Reimagined”, which the statement noted is an adaptation of the classic “The Jungle Book” by Nobel Laureate in Literature Rudyard Kipling and produced by British dancer and choreographer Akram Khan and his dancers, according to the statement.

The festival will close with the “Sino-Portuguese Concert” by the Portuguese pop rock band Capitão Fausto and singer David Huang (黃大煒).

Local productions will also be featured such as “Under the Pagoda Tree” by the Zhen Hua Sing Cantonese Opera Association, “A Star is Arriving” by Dóci Papiaçám di Macau Drama Group, and “By Your Side – Forever Here With You” by Bernardo Amorim.

There will also be 23 outreach activity programmes featured in the festival, with tickets for the “Selected Screenings of International Stage Performances” on sale, while registration for other programmes, some of which require registration and payment, can be made on activity.mo.gov.mo/activity-h5/activity-list-web on Macao One Account from 10 a.m. today, the statement said.
