A new public carpark, which is located in the Health Bureau’s (SSM) new Public Health Building, will open tomorrow, the Transport Bureau (DSAT) announced in a statement yesterday.

The Public Health Building, which was inaugurated in October last year, is located next to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre.

The Public Health Building, informally known as the communicable disease building, is the first-phase extension of the adjacent public hospital. Both are connected by an enclosed footbridge.

The building’s ground floor is situated opposite the rear of S. Francisco Garden, where Rua Nova à Guia, Estrada Nova, and Estrada do Visconde de S. Januário meet.

People can take the Public Health Building’s lifts from its ground floor to fifth floor, from where they can walk to the public hospital, informally known as Peak Hospital in Chinese, without having to walk uphill.

Yesterday’s DSAT statement noted that the new public carpark’s entrance is located on Estrada do Visconde de S. Januário, i.e., the one-way road running from the Macau Monetary Authority’s (AMCM) headquarters, past the rear of the Peak Hospital complex, to the rear of the S. Francisco Garden. The road’s downhill section leading to S. Francisco Garden runs past the entrance of the Public Health Building’s public carpark.

According to the statement, the new public carpark has two levels, namely the Public Health Building’s third and fourth floor.

The new public carpark will provide a total of 130 parking spaces, comprising 55 for cars and 75 for motorcycles.

In the new carpark, officially known as Public Health Building Public Carpark, cars will be charged eight patacas per hour during the day (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and four patacas per hour during the night (from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day), while motorcycles will be charged three patacas per hour during the day and 1.50 pataca per hour during the night, according to the statement.

According to the statement, the new public carpark, which will start operating at 10 a.m. tomorrow, will accept cash and three e-payment channels, namely Macau Pass, MPay, and UnionPay’s Quick Pass.

The new Public Health Building aims to raise the city’s isolation-facility capacity.

The Health Bureau has said that when Macau is not affected by an epidemic, isolation wards in the Public Health Building will be used as general hospital wards.
