A gaming table supervisor gave her accomplice extra reward points during gambling for redeeming gifts from the casino, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Wai Lok said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The supervisor surnamed Lei is aged 48. Her accomplice is a local man surnamed Cheong, aged 54, who told the police he’s jobless.

According to Ho, a casino representative reported on Thursday that Lei had been exploiting her position to provide Cheong with additional reward points during his gambling sessions. Lei falsified the entry of Cheong’s gambling time and amount in the system. Subsequently, the duo used the reward points to redeem various gifts, including hotel rooms, supermarket and restaurant coupons, and gambling chips. The casino suffered a loss amounting to HK$97,700 as a result.

Both Lei and Cheong were arrested in the casino on Friday. Under questioning, they admitted to committing fraud. They told the police that they split the acquired rewards equally between themselves.

The duo have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing computer fraud charges, according to Ho.
