Sands China said in a statement on Wednesday that it has donated 1 million patacas to local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau (YMCA), Sheng Kung Hui (SKH Anglican Church) Macau Social Service Coordination Office, Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home, Youth Volunteers Association of Macao, and the Bosco Youth Service Network, in support of their 2024 responsible gaming work.
The statement noted that Sands China’s Senior Vice President of Casino Operations Andy Kobel and Concession Administration and Casino Compliance Vice President Michael Lee presented ceremonial donation cheques to this year’s five beneficiaries at The Venetian Macao in Cotai on March 18.
The IR’s donations support the NGOs’ responsible gaming efforts such as parent-child responsible gaming and financial management activities and responsible gaming promotional videos and quiz games, according to the statement.
Kobel was quoted in the statement as saying: “It is our pleasure to donate to Macau’s local organisations again this year to aid them in their responsible gaming work in the community, and we hope the financial support contributes to the sustainable development of the industry”.
Sands China, the statement said, has donated over 7.9 million patacas for responsible gambling since 2006. The statement added that the annual practice is part of Sands’ “commitment to corporate social responsibility and its support to the sustainable development of the local community”.
The statement added that the company was the first IR operator to launch a self-exclusion programme in 2004. Responsible gaming training has also been included in its company-wide team member orientation programme since its inception.
