Themed “Reaching the Dual Carbon Goals through Green Transformation”, the fair-cum-forum, featuring a 12,000-square-metre exhibition area, 416 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions including Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs), and 562 booths, kicked off on Thursday at Cotai Expo of The Venetian Macao in Cotai. Saturday was open to the general public.
According to a statement by the organisers on Saturday, during the event, over 420 business matching sessions were arranged, resulting in the signing of 40 agreements.
The organisers included the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA).
A total of five thematic matching sessions, featuring Macau-Hengqin Joint Environmental Matching, Green Procurement for Small-and-Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) of Integrated Tourism and Leisure Enterprises, and Green Supply Chain for Big Health, Green Technology and Carbon Trading, as well as International Green Energy, were organised during the three-day event, the statement noted, with the aim of providing the participating companies from Southeast Asia, Portuguese-speaking countries and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) with the opportunity to match supply and demand, as well as to grasp business opportunities for green development.
According to the statement, the four “Green Forum” sessions were held on two consecutive days, welcoming more than 30 industry experts and scholars from the mainland, Portuguese-speaking countries, Europe, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Macau to focus on environmental issues such as ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance), Green Finance, Carbon Neutrality, and Green Transformation, as well as exploring the future development of greening.
Moreover, during this year’s event, four “One Convention, Two Places” collaboration activities were organised, with around 120 participants taking part in them. Among the attendees, the statement said, businesspeople from Brazil, Cabo Verde, Portugal and other countries made use of the new 144-hour free visa policy to enter mainland China to visit green technology and supply chain enterprises in Hengqin and Zhuhai. The participants had discussions and exchanges with the industry in Macau and Hengqin, so as to connect with the environmental resources in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, as well as to help explore international business opportunities in environmental protection, including those in Portuguese-speaking countries.
