A labour union formed by Galaxy staff asked the gaming operator yesterday a salary rise, a year-end bonus of at least one month’s salary and the granting of days off in lieu if employees’ scheduled days off coincide with mandatory public holidays.
The union, backed by lawmaker Jose Pereira Coutinho, held a press conference at the headquarters of the Macau Civil Servants Association (ATFPM) in Avenida da Amizade.
Loi Ngai Wai, who heads the union, noted that the gaming operator used to adjust staff salaries in July every year. However, according to Loi, this year Galaxy informed its employees that the “system’’ could not be continued this year because of falling gaming receipts.
