A total of seven artists are showcasing their works in an exhibition entitled “Egress of the Spirit”, which is presented by the Ox Warehouse art group.

“Egress” denotes the process of leaving or exiting.

Located at the junction of Avenida do Coronel Mesquita and Avenida Almirante Lacerda, the exhibition hall displays 11 artworks created by artists Zhang Wenxin, Huang Peishan, Ge Xun, Shen Ruilan, Xie Qun, Crystal Chan, and Liu Yi. Mixed media, watercolours and acrylics, photography, and videos are among the art forms used to create the different works.

The exhibition’s theme aims to “emphasise the concept of creating an exit for the ‘spirit’ to travel”, a recent statement from the Ox Warehouse art group noted.

The statement added that in the ancient Chinese linguistic context, “egress of the spirit” initially referred to a Taoist practice and training known as “yuan shen chu ti” (“the ability to leave the body in the form of the spirit”). The practice is “part of the body and mind’s process of harmonising with the circulation of cosmic energy”, according to the statement, with the purpose being “to maximise the potential for travel”, where the “travel of the spirit” represents the transcendence of one’s spiritual self.

The free-admission exhibition is on until April 28, and is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For more details, visit Ox Warehouse’s Facebook page or @oxwarehousemo on Instagram, while enquiries can be made by emailing oxwarehouse@gmail.com
