During yesterday’s Q&A session in the Legislative Assembly (AL), Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng said that the first urban-redevelopment residential project in Iao Hon district will be launched later this year.
Government-owned Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) is currently planning the redevelopment of a group of dilapidated residential estates in Iao Hon, a neighbourhood in the peninsula’s northern district.
Ho said that the first redevelopment project to be launched in Iao Hon would become an example enabling residents living in old buildings there to have an idea about the amount they could expect to pay if their buildings are redeveloped.
Ho also said that the temporary housing buildings on Plot P in Areia Preta district could be ready for use before the end of this year, adding that those affected by redevelopment projects in Iao Hon could choose to temporarily move to there.
The ongoing construction of the temporary housing buildings on Plot P is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. The flats in the high-rises, which are developed by MUR, will be earmarked for condominium unit owners affected by urban renewal projects to rent temporarily during the redevelopment of their former homes.
