The grassroots New Macau Association (NMA) yesterday urged Macau residents, especially young people, to register to vote.

NMA Vice President Sulu Sou Ka Hou told reporters outside the Government Service Centre in Areia Preta that his group had shown a banner and given out leaflets in many districts since December 13 to urge passersby to register to vote, adding he estimated his group had been able to convince about 100 passersby to register.

Sou also said he had met some residents who told him that they thought being a voter was “useless”, and that the Legislative Assembly (AL) was “useless” too.
