Shanghai-born artist Ding Li’s first Macau solo exhibition “La Dolce Vita” is on until May 17 at the Humarish Club Art Space in the H853 Fun Factory of Lisboeta Macau in Cotai, showcasing the artist’s new and exclusive works.

The exhibition, which comprises oils, is held in collaboration with Madein Gallery, which was established in 2014 in Shanghai.

The exhibition’s title, which translated from Italian means “The Sweet Life”, projects Ding’s “consistent warm and humorous attitude towards art and life, paying homage to the world and its people”, while joking good-naturedly, according to a statement from the art space, with the objects depicted in the works derived from ordinary people and landscapes.

The exhibition focuses on semi-portraits of figures, a separate statement provided by Lisboeta Macau noted, with Ding breathing “new life into everyday scenes through intricate brushwork of ‘metallic texture lines’ and layered textures”.

Ding, the statement added, graduated with an MA from the Oil Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris (École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, now the Beaux-Arts de Paris). He has held several solo exhibitions and has joined a number of group exhibitions. The Shanghai-based artist is also a photography professor, the statement noted, adding that Ding’s paintings inhabit the “aesthetic space of commercial photography”.

The exhibition is on until May 17. One can visit the gallery from noon to 8 p.m. daily. Admission is free.
