The “Macau Catering Industry Smart Upgrade Solution Exhibition” was held yesterday at the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre, showcasing more than 30 types of smart catering equipment and inviting experts from the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to explain how to use the smart device applications, bringing innovative operation and management experience to local SMEs and helping them upgrade and transform, according to a statement from the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) yesterday.

The one-day event, with the theme of “Enhancing Efficiency, Expanding Business Opportunities”, was co-organised by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM), with more than 1,300 industry representatives in attendance.

According to the statement, 19 exhibitors from Macau, Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Guangzhou and Dongguan exhibited intelligent equipment and catering solutions for food and beverage production, adding that there were also a raft of business matching sessions to promote cooperation between enterprises.

Meanwhile, the Government Information Bureau (GCS) said in a statement that Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng visited the exhibition and exchanged views with equipment suppliers yesterday.

During the visit, Ho said he believed that the local food and beverage industry could learn more about smart solutions through the exhibition, and make use of technology to improve their work efficiency, which would be convenient for both consumers and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and also would enhance the efficiency and experience of their services, the statement said.

According to the GCS statement, Ho was briefed about the operation, investment and operating costs of the intelligent food and beverage equipment, and also tasted the finished products made by the machines, including automatic dumpling wrapping machines, intelligent milk tea machines, automatic noodle cooking machines, stir-frying machines, and robotic coffee bars.
