‘Old Bridge’ to reopen to pedestrians tomorrow: DSOP

The pavements on both sides of the Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge (colloquially known as “Old Bridge”) will reopen to pedestrians tomorrow, according to a Public Works Bureau (DSOP) statement yesterday.

The Old Bridge had been under maintenance since October last year, the bureau’s statement last month noted.

According to the Public Works Bureau, among the substructure maintenance to be carried out on the bridge, the maintenance work of the main bridge piers has been completed, the bridge maintenance travellers* on the pavements on both sides of the bridge that were used as lifting platforms will be removed tonight.

The statement also said that the rest of the maintenance work under the bridge will be completed in July.
