The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) announced in a statement yesterday that starting from this Saturday, it will organise eight dog and cat adoption events in various districts across Macau in conjunction with the Macau Association for Stray Dogs and Animal Welfare (MASDAW) until the end of the year.

This Saturday’s event will be held near Lok Yeung Fa Yuen in Fai Chi Kei district from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the statement said.

In addition to game booths, exhibition activities and adoption enquiries, rabies vaccination services have been added to the events, aiming to raise public awareness of animal adoption and pet owners’ responsibilities, according to the statement.

The events will also introduce basic medical care and legal knowledge of adopting pets, in order to promote the idea of adopting dogs and cats instead of buying them, the statement said.

According to the statement, there will be one event held each month, namely this Saturday, June 29, July 20, August 24, September 21, October 19, November 14 and December 7, for a total of eight sessions, in different districts in Macau.

Dog owners can register online (https://app.iam.gov.mo/iambooking) for rabies vaccination during the events, the statement said, adding that parents are also welcome to bring along their children to participate in the event.
