The Times Higher Education (THE) released its 2024 World Young University Rankings yesterday, and the University of Macau has jumped to 14th place in the world, up 12 places from last year, hitting a record high.
Meanwhile, the private Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) is ranked joint 38th in World Young University Rankings 2024, according to THE.
The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings lists the world’s best universities that are 50 years old or younger, according to THE, adding that the universities are judged across all their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook – “to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available”.
According to THE, a total of 673 universities from 79 countries and regions are on the young university list this year, 68 more than last year.
Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) ranked first, followed by Paris Sciences et Lettres – PSL Research University Paris and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), with NTU topping the list for the second consecutive year, according to THE.
According to THE, Hong Kong has the largest number of universities in the world’s top 10, namely, HKUST that ranks number three, the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) fourth, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) seventh.
A total of three mainland universities have entered the world’s top 100, according to THE, with the highest ranked being Southern University of Science and Technology, which tied for 24th place, and Shenzhen University (SZU) that ranks 67th, while Yangzhou University (YZU) came in at 94th.
