The government officially launched the second phase of its talent acquisition programme today, according to a statement by the Talent Development Committee yesterday.
The application period will run until November 20.
The statement noted that the overall programme consists of nine specific programmes, including the High-end Talents Programme, Outstanding Talents Programme and the Advanced Professionals Programme in the areas of big health, high-tech, modern finance, as well as culture, sports and others industries.
The programme, which aims to facilitate the government’s “1+4” strategy of appropriately diversifying the city’s economy as well as further supporting local industries and sustainable development, will prioritise applicants’ professional knowledge, qualifications, and experience appertaining to certain professional sectors.
The required professional fields and the list of Professions in Short Supply have been expanded to more than 20, the statement noted, adding that the Advanced Professionals Programme is looking for non-local outstanding graduates who have studied one of the “1+4” key economic areas in any of the world’s top 50 universities as well as from Macau’s higher education institutions.
Concerning the government’s “1+4” economic development plan, “1” refers to Macau’s target of becoming a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, while “4” refers to the continuous promotion of four new local key industries, namely big health, modern finance and high-tech, as well as MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions), culture, and sports.
The statement noted that applications for the first phase of the talent acquisition programme closed during the first quarter of this year, and as of last month, valid applications had totalled 1,107, of which 387 individuals have been included in the recommended selection list, including 22 high-end talents, 83 outstanding talents, and 282 advanced professionals.
Eligible individuals may visit the programme’s official website at https://trplatform.cdqq.gov.mo to check the details for each specific programme and submit one’s application.
