The recital contest and award ceremony for the “3rd Macao-wide English Poetry Writing and Recital Contest 2024” will be held on the University of Saint Joseph’s (USJ) Ilha Verde campus on Saturday.
The contest, according to USJ’s website, themed “Macao, The Garden Of Life” had participants submit original poems for one of three categories: “Beauty in the eye of the beholder”, “Wisdom of the ages” and “Emotions running over”, with submissions made between March 16 and April 2.
The recital contest for all categories will take place in the university’s Fátima Auditorium, with the elementary school category scheduled to start at 10 a.m., while the contest for the secondary school category and university category will start at 11 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. respectively. The awards ceremony, meanwhile, is slated to start at 1:15 p.m.
Competitors in the elementary, secondary and university category have a chance to win the first prizes of 1,500 patacas, 3,000 patacas and 5,000 patacas respectively.
This year’s poetry and recital contest has received over 485 poetry submissions, with the list of finalists for all categories available on the private Catholic university’s website on https://www.usj.edu.mo/en/news/list-of-finalists-the-3rd-macao-wide-english-poetry-writing-and-recital-contest-2024/.
