Two local women and a non-resident male worker (NRW) from the mainland have been arrested for their alleged involvement in fake employment, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said in a regular press conference yesterday.

The local suspects involved in this case are a female doctor in her thirties and a clinic clerk suspected of being an intermediary in the fake employment scam, the spokesperson said, adding that the female doctor is the licence holder of a clinic near Rua da Erva.

According to the spokesperson, the Public Security Police (PSP) recently discovered that the male worker who had worked as a cleaner in Macau in 2021, was now working as a “assistant” in the clinic. This led the police to investigate his employment situation at the clinic.

Police launched an investigation and summoned the trio to a police station for questioning on Monday.

Under questioning, the female doctor and the mainland man admitted to committing the offence and told the police that they had arranged the false employment through the clinic’s female clerk, who, however, denied committing the offence, the spokesperson said, adding that the doctor earned 6,000 patacas from the fake employment.

The mainland man, who obtained his local work permit (colloquially known as blue card) in December last year, confessed that he had paid 12,500 patacas to the female clerk to apply for the blue card, hoping that he could stay in Macau to find a job.

The three suspects have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of involvement in arranging fake employment.
