A food delivery rider banned from driving for a year and nine months was intercepted by traffic police in Avenida Marginal Flor de Lótus in Taipa on Saturday night when delivering food to customers, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hon said yesterday.
According to yesterday’s regular press conference, the local man in his twenties, surnamed Lei, was sentenced by a court to a driving ban between April 9 this year and January 8, 2026 for drunk driving and disobeying a police order.
Lai said that at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, a motorcyclist was stopped by the Public Security Police (PSP) officers at a roadblock in Avenida Marginal Flor de Lótus. The officers discovered that according to the rider’s driving licence information shown in his “Macao One Account”, Lei was violating his court-ordered driving ban.
Under questioning, Lei admitted to riding despite the driving ban, claiming that he did not notify his company of the driving ban in order to continue to make a living through his food delivery job, adding that he had continued riding his motorcycle as a food delivery courier until he was intercepted by the police on Saturday, despite the driving ban.
Lai noted that the Public Security Police have transferred Lei to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for charges of aggravated violation of an official order and breaching a driving ban.
