Integrated resort (IR) MGM Macau said in a statement earlier this week that it is partnering with the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM, Gung Luen in Cantonese) this year to organise the “Contributing to a Harmonious Community – RG [responsible gaming] Macau Express” series.

The statement said that the series, which this year expanded its target audience from local residents to tourists, aims to expand responsible gaming awareness from local neighbourhoods to popular tourist attractions, with eight promotional events set to take place until December.

The first event was held in Rua dos Ervanários during the May Day Golden Week holiday. The second was held in the Barra district last Thursday, and featured Q&A games and bilingual promotional materials aimed at raising awareness of responsible gaming among tourists, according to the statement.

Participants were also given souvenirs showcasing Macau’s unique characteristics while incorporating elements of responsible gaming. Both the first and second events reached over 2,000 tourists, the statement noted.

This year’s series expects up to 8,000 tourists attending the events, the statement noted.

Dedicated to responsible gaming, the statement said that both MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI were awarded with “Responsible Gaming Implementation Model Units” last year. The company has also been working with FAOM on promoting responsible gaming in different local communities since 2023, serving over 5,000 residents.
