Strong Wind Signal No.3 to remain hoisted this morning: Macau observatory

    Macau's weather station has said in a statement tonight that the Strong Wind Signal No.3 "will remain in effect in the early morning."

   Macau's second highest of a five-signal storm-warning system was hoisted by the local weather station at 4 p.m. yesterday, after it had issued the Stand-by Signal No.1 at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

   According to the statement by the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) Tropical Storm Maliksi was located located about 230 km west-southwest of Macau at midnight, moving toward the western coast of Guangdong province.

   Strong Wind Signal No.3 means, according to the statement, that "under the influence of a tropical cyclone, winds with sustained speeds of 41 to 62 km/h are expected or blowing and the gusts may exceed 110 km/h in Macau."

   According to the bureau, Macau's temperature stood at 26 °C at 1:30 a.m. today It forecast rainfall, including occasional thunderstorms, to continue in Macau at least until next Friday. It predicted relative humidity to range between 80 percent and up to 99 percent for seven continuous days.
