The Macao Grand Prix (MGP) Museum* celebrated its 3rd reinauguration anniversary on Saturday, offering free admission and activities for members of the public, the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement released on the same day.
The statement noted that the museum was inaugurated as an expansion project on June 1, 2021.
Members of the public at the museum on Saturday were able to join activities such as the “Treasure Hunt GoGoGo!” in exchange for gifts, while three sessions of the Macao Grand Prix Museum x Andy Hung (LEGO® Certified Professional) “BUILD the Museum” Workshop were also held, according to the statement. The statement noted that the workshop was popular and attracted 590 applications, from which lots were drawn for the final list of participants.
MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes was also present at the museum on Saturday.
The museum was inaugurated at the 40th Macau Grand Prix on November 18, 1993.
The statement said that the museum has welcomed 264,812 visitors since its reopening in 2021.
Moreover, from June 1, 2023 to May 31 this year, the statement said that 148,856 people visited the museum, adding that this was a year-on-year rise of 125.10 percent. Among them, the statement said that 10,302 people (in 811 groups) took part in the guided tours for schools, organisations, and the general public.
The average monthly number of visitors between January and May 2024 rose 1.36-fold compared with the first five months of 2023, according to the statement.
