A solo exhibition by Portuguese architect and photography enthusiast Francisco Ricarte is being held at Casa Garden until June 30, with the promotion of photography to youngsters, including those young at heart, being one of its aims.

The exhibition, entitled “To the Eyes of Youngsters (At Heart)”, is organised by Casa de Portugal em Macau (CPM – “Portuguese House in Macau”).

According to information displayed at the venue, a total of 23 photographs taken in Macau are on display. The photos were taken “within everyday unexpected situations of a certain irony or humour, or within performances of great choreographic and visual intensity”, the statement said.

The exhibition’s main aim is to captivate youngsters, including those young at heart, to appreciate images of “unexpected messages” and visual intensity. It also aims to raise awareness among youngsters of photography’s importance and value as a way of expression and visual creation, seeking to highlight its importance in recording daily life.

Ricarte born in 1955 has been living in Macau since 2006, the statement noted. He has been a photography enthusiast since 1976. He has participated in various solo and group photography exhibitions.

Aside from photos taken by Ricarte, the exhibition also features polaroids taken by participants during two recently held workshops. In one of the workshops the participants were aged between eight and 11, while the other one was for those aged at least 12, CPM’s Facebook page notes.

One can visit the free admission exhibition from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. It is closed on Mondays.
