MGM said in a statement yesterday that it is set to present the MGM Artistic Swimming Elite Extravaganza & Macao Open Artistic Swimming Competition 2024 from June 21 to 23 at the Aquatic Centre of the Olympics Sports Centre, “warming up for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 with the exquisite glamour and skills of ‘water ballet’”.
The swimming event debuted last year.
The statement noted that this year’s three-day event, which is supported by the Sports Bureau (ID) and held by the integrated resort operator (IR) in collaboration with Associação Geral de Natação de Macau (“Macau General Swimming Association”), features performances by three nationally renowned teams, as well as the annual Open Artistic Swimming Competition attracting nearly 200 young athletes and their coaches from Macau, Hong Kong and the mainland.
One of the key highlights of the event, according to the statement, will be performances from renowned teams from mainland China, namely the Beijing Artistic Swimming Team, the Jiangsu Artistic Swimming Team and the Sichuan Artistic Swimming Team. The teams have achieved “remarkable breakthroughs” in various competitions.
The statement added that MGM will also host the “Artistic Swimming Master Class” with group demonstrations to enable athletes from Macau, Hong Kong and the mainland to “advance their skills up close from the national level professionals”.
The statement noted that complimentary tickets are available online and at MGM COTAI’s Box Office on a first come, first served basis, with each person able to get a maximum of two tickets per event day.
The Open Competition comprises five categories, namely: “Figures”, “Solo Free”, “Duet Free”, “Team Free” and “Free Combination”, according to the statement.
Members of the public can “grasp the opportunity to appreciate the dexterous movements of China’s leading artistic swimming teams and enjoy the fierce competition between local athletes”, the statement said.
