A local man has been arrested for drunk driving after he rear-ended a motorcycle, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Cheong Im Sim said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The 29-year-old suspect surnamed Ieong told the police that he’s jobless.

According to Cheong, on Thursday at around 8 a.m. when Ieong was driving along Avenida da Amizade near the Outer Harbor Ferry Terminal, he rear-ended a motorcycle on the road. Police officers who arrived at the scene discovered that Ieong was reeking of alcohol, and a breathalyser test found his alcohol concentration was 2.62 grams of alcohol per litre of blood.

Cheong noted that the rider injured his leg in the crash. Ieong admitted to drink driving and losing control while driving.

Ieong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of drunk-driving and causing bodily harm.
