The Judiciary Police (PJ) have busted a local taxi driver, who has a criminal record for taking drugs, for cooperating with a mainland prostitute in providing her clients with “drug-sex package” services, PJ spokesman Chan Wun Man said on Friday, pointing out that the Judiciary Police did not rule out the possibility that the cabbie drove under the influence of drugs.
Chan identified the cabbie and prostitute as a 56-year-old man surnamed Wong and a 42-year-old woman surnamed Zhang.
While investigating the duo, who were arrested outside a hotel in Cotai, and raiding their respective homes in the northern district and checking Wong’s motorbike and car on Wednesday, according to Friday’s regular press conference, PJ officers seized a total of one gram of crystal methamphetamine (aka ice) and 7.1 grams of ketamine with an estimated street value of 14,000 patacas, as well as drug-taking paraphernalia and a number of condoms.
Chan noted that while investigating a drug and prostitution case, the Judiciary Police discovered Wong’s involvement in the case as he drove Zhang in his taxi on at least six occasions to different hotels to provide gamblers with drugs and sex services. The Judiciary Police, Chan added, put the duo under surveillance and arrested them at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday when Wong was about to pick Zhang up outside a casino in Cotai.
Under questioning, the duo refused to cooperate with the police, Chan said, noting that the PJ investigation found that Wong had been selling drugs in Macau for at least a year, and that Zhang was one of his clients. The investigation showed, according to Chan, that subsequently, Wong provided drugs and pick-up services to Zhang, who in turn posted advertisements online looking for clients, charging them 10,000 patacas for each sex-and-drug “package”.
Chan noted that both Wong and Zhang, who tested positive for drugs, have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further investigation, facing charges of taking and selling narcotics and psychotropic substances, as well as possessing drug-taking paraphernalia, drug driving, and controlling prostitutes.
