The government has drawn up a new administrative regulation enabling students of schools in Hengqin run by Macau organisations to fully enjoy the Macau government’s free education.
Secretary for Administration and Justice André Cheong Weng Chon and Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) Director Kong Chi Meng made the announcement during a press conference at Government Headquarters on Friday.
A school with kindergarten and primary school classes at the Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) residential estate on Zhuhai’s Hengqin island, run by Macau’s Hou Kong Middle School, will start operating in the upcoming 2024/25 academic year.
The school, officially known as Hengqin School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School, accepts students who are Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan residents, or those holding foreign nationality.
