The government promised yesterday that starting from next month or March it will provide about 120 additional parking spaces for heavy goods vehicles, according to lawmaker Ella Lei Cheng I.

Representatives of the Macau Federation of Transportation, an affiliate of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions, accompanied by Lei, had a meeting with Transport Bureau (DSAT) officials about the steep increase in charges for vehicle removals and inspections which the government announced last month.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Lei said the officials said that the government would provide about 120 heavy goods parking spaces at Concordia Industrial Park in Coloane. Moreover, the government was also planning to reopen the parking area for heavy goods vehicles near the Lotus Flower Bridge border checkpoint in Cotai and allow heavy goods vehicles to park in the undeveloped land reclamation area opposite MGM in Nape.
