MGM swimming event concludes, Macau team takes home prizes

MGM’s three-day “MGM Artistic Swimming Elite Extravaganza & Macao Open Artistic Swimming Competition 2024” concluded yesterday at the Aquatic Centre of the Olympic Sports Centre in Taipa, with the Macau team winning the free group championship for those aged 15 or under, among other prizes. 

The winners of the open competition’s different age categories were also awarded yesterday.

A recent statement by integrated resort (IR) operator MGM noted that this year’s “Macao Open Artistic Swimming Competition” brought together a total of 17 teams with nearly 200 young athletes from Beijing, Tianjin, Sichuan, Chongqing, Chinese Taipei, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau. The competition’s five categories were “Figures”, “Solo Free”, “Duet Free”, “Team Free”, and “Free Combination”.

Meanwhile, after the competition, spectators at the event were also able to watch water ballet performances by the elite swimmers from the mainland teams. The three teams that participated in this year’s artistic swimming event comprised the Beijing Artistic Swimming Team, the Jiangsu Artistic Swimming Team, and the Sichuan Artistic Swimming Team.

Moreover, MGM also hosted its “Artistic Swimming Master Class” after yesterday’s performances and closing ceremony, where young athletes from Macau, Hong Kong and the mainland were able to watch group demonstrations by the nation’s teams.
