Macau recorded this year’s fourth imported case of dengue fever yesterday, the Health Bureau (SSM) announced in a statement last night.
According to the statement, the patient is a 25-year-old male Indonesian visitor who flew to Macau alone on Wednesday last week to visit his family members here.
After arriving in Macau, the statement said, the man stayed in a flat in Kai Kei Court on Avenida do Almirante Lacerda.
The statement said that before travelling to Macau, the man had already come down with a fever, dizziness and abdominal pain on Tuesday last week.
As his symptoms persisted, the statement said, the man sought treatment at the private Kiang Wu Hospital where doctors suggested that he be hospitalised, but he later decided to seek treatment at the emergency department of the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre where he was hospitalised and had his blood sample collected for a test.
He was diagnosed with Grade III dengue fever yesterday, the statement said.
Last night’s statement said that the patient was still undergoing treatment at the public hospital.
According to the statement, the patient has told the Health Bureau that after arriving in Macau, he had not visited any parks or other green areas.
The statement said that by yesterday none of the man’s family members he was staying with in Macau had come down with dengue symptoms.
The statement underlined that the Macau Health Bureau has classified the case as an imported case of dengue fever after considering his travel history and the time of the onset of his symptoms, as well as its laboratory test results.
Macau reported seven imported cases of dengue fever last year.
