The Studio City Cinema was unveiled yesterday at the integrated resort in Cotai, with the opening event attended by some of the cast of the Hong Kong neo-noir martial arts crime action film “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In”, for which a director’s cut screening and meet-and-greet session were also held.

The cinema, which comprises 770 seats across nine halls, officially opens to members of the public today.

In his speech, Senior Vice President, Property General Manager of Studio City Kevin Benning said that “the opening of Studio City Cinema further demonstrates our efforts to enrich Macau’s entertainment landscape and support the city’s diversification goals, as a destination that complements the integrated resort’s collection of comprehensive, cosmopolitan and contemporary leisure and lifestyle experiences”.

Moreover, the film’s cast who attended yesterday’s event included Louis Koo Tin-lok, Richie Jen Hsien-chi, Raymond Lam Wui-man, Tony Wu Tsz-tung and German Cheung Man-kit, much to the delight of a crowd of fans.

The film is the second highest grossing domestic film in Hong Kong ever, according to both Lifestyle Asia Hong Kong and Wikipedia. Moreover, a statement provided by Melco Resorts & Entertainment last night added that the film’s box office has exceeded HK$100 million.

The director’s cut screening was held at the 338-seat Dolby Cinema, the largest among the halls of the integrated resort’s latest entertainment offering. Noted as being Studio City Cinema’s “centrepiece”, the hall features the sound of Dolby Atmos and the picture quality of Dolby Vision in a Dolby-designed cinema.

Studio City Cinema will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekends and public holidays. More ticketing and cinema details can be found by visiting www.studiocity-macau.com/en/cinema.
