A collective exhibition kicked off earlier this week at the Rui Cunha Foundation (FRC) gallery that is showcasing 45 works of Chinese calligraphy and painting, as well as watercolours, oils and acrylics, all of which are on display until July 20.

The free-admission exhibition, titled “2024 Flower and Colour”, is organised by the foundation in conjunction with Chinese Artists Exchange Association – Macau, with the support of Macau Arts, Painting and Calligraphy Friendship Association. It is a biannual event.

According to a recent statement from the gallery, the works were created by 38 students who participated in adult and youth classes under the guidance of local teachers and artists Lee Chau Ping, Hong Ka Yan and Wong Ceoi Lam.

The statement quoted Lee as saying that this platform allows the students to “share their creative achievements and hand-painted works with others. I also hope that senior calligraphy and painting artists can provide more valuable opinions so that teachers and students can strive for artistic excellence”.

Lee is also the founder and president of the Macau Arts, Painting and Calligraphy Friendship Association.

He added that it is hoped that students “can communicate with each other, observe and learn, cultivate cultural literacy, express sentiments, enrich spiritual life, and promote traditional Chinese culture to achieve the purpose of passing the torch from generation to generation”.

The gallery is open from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
