The Labour Affairs Bureau’s (DSAL) Youth Career Expo received 2,149 attendees, of whom about 986 had on-the-spot job interviews and 1,163 participated in activities such as forums, roadshows and seminars.

The annual job fair, co-organised in conjunction with the Macao New Chinese Youth Association, was held on Friday and Saturday at Galaxy International Convention Centre in Cotai, offering a total of 1,643 vacancies in 52 enterprises covering sectors such as integrated resorts, modern finance, high-tech, public utilities, catering, high-end retail, social welfare organisations and construction work, according to a DSAL statement on Saturday.

During the two-day job fair, the statement said, several “1+4” industry-specific seminars, forums and roadshows were held, inviting industry professionals from different fields, including senior officials from the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and representatives of leading enterprises in the zone, to give their views on the current demand for qualified human resources and new industrial development trends, as well as the zone’s development opportunities and relevant policies, aiming to help young people better understand the development trends of the job market, broaden their horizons and explore more diversified employment opportunities.

The statement noted that 10 job interview workshops were held before the job fair, with human resources consultants from participating large-scale enterprises as instructors who taught more than 200 young people about to enter the job market how to prepare themselves for their job interviews and improve their résumé writing skills.

The bureau noted in the statement that the job fair aimed to be a platform for residents, especially young people and fresh graduates in the workplace, to exchange ideas with enterprises and, at the same time, show them Macau’s new employment situation and diversified perspectives.
