The government has launched a project to widen the anti-slip granite walking path in front of the Taipa Houses complex, with the aim of making it more comfortable and safer for those visiting the area to walk, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a joint statement yesterday.
The statement underlined that the project will keep the area’s feature intact because most of the existing cobblestones there will not be replaced.
The project will last around 60 working days, during which the area will remain open, the statement said.
The statement noted that the Taipa Houses area is one of the city’s tourist attractions most popular with both residents and visitors alike.
The walking area in front of the five mansions of the Taipa Houses complex is officially known as Avenida da Praia (“Beach Avenue”). In front of the walking area is a large wetland.
The area features a view of various casino-hotel resorts in Cotai.
According to the statement, the project will widen the granite walking path near the five mansions, while the granite walking path near the wetland will be replaced by cobblestones.
The statement also said that the worn-out cobblestones in the area will also be replaced with new ones.
