A solo exhibition entitled Calligraphic Poetry by local artist Leong Lai Ieng is currently on at the 10 Fantasia gallery in the S. Lázaro district, with the works on display tackling the theme of “thinking about the human body and organs through brushstrokes”.

Comprising seven sketches in the gallery’s room B09, Leong uses lines, shadows and textures to “interpret the inner and outer aspects of people and the unfolding of reality and creation”, according to a statement displayed at the gallery.

The statement noted that Leong also uses her own perspective to explore the mystery of the human body.

Leong, the statement added, hopes that the works will inspire exhibitiongoers to think about the relationship between the activities found in human life and one’s organs, as well as the value of life and the meaning of existence.

A graduate of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), Leong majored in Sculpture (Art Education) and has taken part in a number of exhibitions, according to the statement. She is currently a teacher in an art institution. Aside from art and education, the statement said that she has also worked as a tour guide.

The works are on display until August 31 and one can visit the gallery from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday. It is closed on Mondays.
