The Judiciary Police (PJ) were informed by the Macau Customs Service (SA) at 13:33 p.m. yesterday that a male corpse was found floating in the sea opposite Macau Tower, according to a PJ statement.

The statement said that the deceased is a local resident, aged between 30 and 40.

According to the statement, the Customs Service officers brought the corpse ashore at Macau Outer Ferry Terminal.

The statement noted that after a preliminary inspection, no suspicious or criminally induced injuries were found on the corpse.

According to the statement, the man was confirmed to be the person who had jumped off the Ponte de Amizade (“Friendship Bridge”) on Saturday, adding that frogmen from the Fire Services Bureau (CA) failed to find the man during a search on Saturday.

The statement said that the deceased was naked from the waist up and was wearing only a pair of grey underpants. No identification documents or suicide notes were found on the body.

The cause of death still needs to be confirmed by forensic examination.

The case was listed as a dead body found, and has been transferred to the PJ Investigation Section for follow-up, according to the statement.
